Marker / Moderator in Hairdressing, Barbering, and / or Beauty Therapy

Due to the growth of our COA25 Level 1/ 2 Technical Award in the Study of Hair a Beauty qualification, we’re looking to expand the team. The work will be allocated around exam windows depending on the capacity for staff and the team. This is an exciting chance to be a part of this new qualification and be actively involved in qualifications and assessment with VTCT. Over time there may be opportunities to expand into other qualifications within the moderation and marking teams.

Principal responsibilities

• Mark / Moderate learners’ scripts and report on outcomes within pre-agreed deadlines using the mark schemes provided, using VTCT’s e-testing system
• Identify and report any anomalies within any mark schemes • Report potential concerns of collusion / plagiarism / maladministration / malpractice • Completion of Examiner Reports and activity logs
• Participation in awarding, training and standardisation activities. This will be held in one of our offices so travel for these will be required.

Essential Criteria

• Fluent Welsh and English language skills
• Experience using Microsoft Office
• Level 3 or higher qualification in hairdressing, barbering, and/ or beauty therapy
• 3 years, hands-on experience of working in an educational setting
• 3 years, hands-on experience of working in a professional setting within your subject specialism
• Organised and flexible to work around the needs of the examination windows
• Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
• No conflict of interest in relation to this role.

Desirable Criteria

• A working knowledge of 14-16 vocational curriculum delivery.
