Update re T Level in Beauty (previously known as the Hairdressing, Barbering, and Beauty Therapy T Level)

After careful consideration of the needs of learners and employers in the Beauty sector, Ministers have decided not to introduce a T Level in Beauty at this time. This decision stems from the observation that entrants to the sector typically progress through apprenticeships or smaller qualifications, leading to low projected learner demand.

Ministers have confirmed that Skills England will continue to assess the skills requirements in this sector, ensuring that technical qualifications, including T Levels, are of high quality and suitable for both employers and learners.

We are sincerely grateful for the dedication and expertise provided by Jayne Lewis-Orr, Chair of our Beauty and Hair Strategic Advisory Board, and the members of those Advisory Boards, which include colleges, training providers, and employers who have worked with us for some considerable time to help shape the T Level.  We are also grateful to all the staff of VTCT Skills who worked on developing this qualification.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to ensuring the best outcomes for learners and the industry.
