Urban drivers typically transport goods by road to an agreed destination, often serving multiple customers daily in congested areas. This occupation differs from large goods vehicle (LGV) drivers, who usually drive a much higher mileage and use heavier, articulated lorries. An Urban Driver will spend much of their working day behind the wheel and they will expected to able to drive safely in all weathers and traffic conditions.
An Urban Driver is expected to deliver a high standard of customer service while providing safe, accurate and timely deliveries, collections and associated services, such as technical advice on goods and product installation.
Urban Drivers are expected to have a strong focus on representing an organisation’s brand to the expected corporate standards and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.
The decision to take an apprentice through Gateway is made between the employer, training provider and apprentice, typically after 12 months on-programme.
