ST0647: Transport and Warehouse Operations Supervisor Level 3

A Transport / Warehouse Operations Supervisor typically spend their day monitoring and supervising transport and warehouse operations. A Transport / Warehouse Operations Supervisor will manage and understand customer contracts, manage staff performance, use it to monitor productivity, ensure compliance, put controls in place to monitor this, and consistently develop their resource planning and project management skills.

In their daily work, a Transport / Warehouse Operations Supervisor will interact with a range of stakeholders across a number of organisations and professions. Both Transport and Warehousing Supervisors would be expected to lead a team which could vary in size depending on the organisation. They would also need to have regular engagement with external customers and third party agents.

In larger organisations the Transport / Warehouse Operations Supervisor would have regular communication with internal functions such as Accounts and HR. In smaller organisations both Transport and Warehousing Supervisors may carry out some of the everyday tasks accounting and human resource activities.  A Transport Supervisor would also have contact with various regulators and enforcement organisations.

Gateway requirements

The decision to take an apprentice through Gateway is made between the employer, training provider and apprentice, typically after 12 months on-programme.

The apprentice must have completed all on-programme elements before they enter Gateway, including:

Working at or above the occupational standard for their option

Achieved English and Maths Qualifications Level 2 or be exempt

Submit a project title, scope, terms of reference and project plan for the project report

If selecting the Transport option must achieve one of the following qualifications:

• Level 3 Certificate of Professional Competence for Transport Managers (Road Haulage)
• Ministry of Defence Junior Transport Operator Level 3

End-point Assessment (EPA) Criteria

EPA consists of three assessment methods: a multiple choice test, a project report including a presentation and questions and an interview.
