ST0103: Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2

The role of a Supply Chain Warehouse Operative will be to work within a warehouse/storage, distribution or sortation hub. The role will be to safely, efficiently and effectively use a range of mechanical handling equipment usually to move, transfer, sort, store and pick and pack goods. Using IT/warehouse management systems for coordination, planning and communication whilst speaking to internal customers.

A Supply Chain Warehouse Operative may find themselves working in a variety of sectors, such as Logistics, Retail, the MOD, Pharmaceuticals or Manufacturing. Though they will routinely work within warehouses, these can vary from 5,000 to 1,000,000 square feet.

A Supply Chain Warehouse Operative will be responsible for the safe handling of goods and ensuring that stocks and products are correct in accordance with the rules and orders received. Responsibilities may include the packing of goods and internal transportation and stock management. In a smaller operation a Supply Chain Warehouse Operative may be responsible for the whole process of incoming goods, storage and outgoing orders. This could require that they operate different forms of mechanical handling equipment such as forklift trucks, cranes, pallet trucks and reach trucks. A Supply Chain Warehouse Operative should operate all equipment in a safe manner and be aware of any specific regulations which may apply to the products handled.

Gateway requirements

The decision to take an apprentice through Gateway is made between the employer, training provider and apprentice, typically after 12 months on-programme.
