Ashley Barnes

Ashley joined VTCT in October 2008. After completing a degree and masters degree in sport and exercise physiology, he lectured at the University College Chichester and then became Programme Leader for Sports Science at the University of Winchester.

After four years at Winchester, Ashley completed a second masters degree in physiotherapy and then worked as an outpatient physiotherapist for the NHS, he also set up Active Physio, a private clinic specialising in the rehabilitation of complex knee and shoulder disorders.

Ashley joined VTCT initially as Development Officer for Sport and Active Leisure, he soon progressed to Qualifications Manager and then Chief Academic Officer; most recently Ashley was promoted to Deputy Chief Executive Officer with the remit to drive forward our corporate strategy.

Ashley is committed to working collaboratively with industry to ensure VTCT Skills’ new breed of qualifications are steered by its customers, recognised for excellence and embraced by employers.

He lives in Hampshire with his wife Britt. They have three young children, Paige, Ruby and Grayson.
